Apple lossless DAP that's not made by Apple

My search engine skills have failed me. Are there any portable DAPs on the market that play the Apple Lossless format other than Apple's iPhone/pod/pad offerings?

I know I can transcode ALAC to FLAC, but I'd prefer to use iTunes to organize my media, but want to break away from the iDevice lines for my source gear.

get a sansa fuze, clip, or an old iriver player and run the open source rockbox firmware in it. It will support ALAC:

Yep, as the poster above said, any player that can be Rockboxed can support ALAC. I have a bunch of ALAC music on my Rockboxed Fuze.

Sweet - thanks! Checking out Rockbox now and it looks pretty sweet.

The link you provided is very useful, Thanks for your reply! It helps me out of the problem.

And, you can always use FLAC in itunes. I do it in Mac with no problems at all. I could use script to do it, but I use 3rd party apps like Fluke to import them. If you don't want to use iPod but want to use iTunes, FLAC, OGG vorbis, no problem at all. Not sure why this isn't common knowledge by now.
