mini3 to power dt880 250 or 600?

Hi Guys,

 

I have a gamma 1 dac and a mini3 amp high performance.  Will it be fine at powering dt880s 250 or 600?  I'm planning to grab a pair thats used on here to test them out.

 

I've read around that SS amps aren't that good for powering these and vacuum tubes should be used instead... but no one really gave a solid answer.

 

Should I swap the gain from 2 to 5 for the mini3 or should I keep it at gain 2?

 

I'll be listening to electronic and rock mostly.

Mini³ should have no trouble with the 250 ohm version but probably not enough output voltage swing for the 600 ohm.  I would increase the gain to 5 for the 250 ohm, but this depends on your source and listening volume preferences.
