XBA-1 is a pretty good mid-centric IEM, the bass and treble rolled off early, but this is all about mids and vocal

Audiofly AF56 in red (Vino) w/o mic for $39 (regularly $99) - I bought a pair of them in vintage white and like them a lot. They have a 13mm driver and aren't bass heavy.

Wow - Amazon has UE900 (3 pairs left) for $299 - it is from Canada and the shipping is $30 - but I imagine our Canadian friends might be able to get a discount....

I think the UE 700 with comply tips sound better (except the bass). I've read on a few reviews that if you amp these they sound a lot fuller, but that defeats the purpose of the control talk.I 'm using them with apple lossless unamped through my iPhone 4. For $134 there're not to bad though. Looking forward to your guys impressions of them.

Got the XBA-3ip today and let me tell you that they are going back to Amazon, they sound so unnatural and bright and I like bright sounding earphones. They have no comparison with the SE535LTD it maybe because I am spoiled by my Shure Ear monitors I don't know, so everyone know the sound signature I like I like the Ety's sound and the Sony XBA is like nothing in comparison, they kill the songs.  Tried to listen to Deep Purple's Machine Head and Ian sounds wrong with the Sony XBA-3ip earphones

With this said I will send them back tomorrow.

There are reports they do not pair well with higher impedance sources. What are you using as a source?

I posted this in the "Deals Thread", but thought it deserved a place in here as well.

The V-Moda M-80 (In White Pearl) is down to $150 new on Amazon.  Does not happen that often for that color.

Yikes.

Guess I'm glad I held off on pulling the trigger then!

I tried giving them a chance and played some Vinnie Vincent Invasion's songs and the left earphone make this noise like static or harsh sound; I then connect them to my FiiO E17 and listened again and it sounded somewhat better but not even close to my Etymotic HF3's much less the Shure 535's LTD.

I really wanted to like these as an alternate phone but can't even listen to them without getting a headache...

Ok. I don't own them and have never heard them. Its interesting though the reviews vary so much on them. You have alot of people saying they sound terrible and another group raving about them, I think they are probably somewhere in between. When they originally dropped to $100 in Canada they were a huge bang for the buck. I don't think anyone that paid full price is probably happy.

Hmmmm, I had a short listen yesterday and thought they were very decent. I bought them with the Groupon deal last month. I will keep them in my car for emergency use.

It's weird. At first I really liked these, I'm a sucker for a big soundstage, and good. bass. But the longer I listened to them, I noticed my music was sounding boring. It sounded veiled, like all the instruments themselves were thrown in a bowl of mush. For a BA it didn't seem very detailed at all. I think EDM sounds ok on it though.

Is this the deals thread or the talk about IEMS you bought and didn't like thread?
