The seller was adgtron.  I understand that Adgtron is an official Sennheisser repair center and that they have genuine Sennheisser gear.

I got it today and it didn't come with the outside cardboard box, but all the other parts were there and the headphones look like new.

I checked out the phones and packaging comparing them to the photos on the FAKE IE8 thread and they passed all the visual checkists, so I believe it is genuine.

wow, they went up. these used to sell for $180, same seller

Ah, I got my IE8 for 168.99 on Nov 8, 2010 from same seller. Looks like hes increasing prices on his products.

168 for genuine Senn IE8's? And you are sure they are 100% legit? That's insanely low for those...great deal if it's for real...

I got mine for $169 too and they are definitely legit...it seems like adgtron may not be an authorized seller though!

As I understand,  Dakmart is an authorized Sennheiser seller of refurbished items (IE8/7/6 etc), agtron, buy.com sells products from them, so they should be the legit and the real thing when you receive from these sellers as well, but if they are covered by Sennheiser I don't know. I have personally purchased products (IE7) from agtron that was the real deal at a very reasonable price.

adgtron is definitely not an authorized dealer. As a matter of fact, it is listed on Sennheiser NON-authorized list.  See here >>>>   http://www.sennheiserusa.com/nonauthorized

I don't why and what a vendor has done to earn a spot on that list. I got mine from Dakmart via buy.com for $185.00 shipped last week.

Some really good deals at 8th Street Electronics.

Everything that isn't an open box or b-stock is 15% off, free shipping on orders over 99.95.

Of note, you can get the Sennheiser HD25-1 II for 170 and other headphones (mostly full-size and DJ though)

They carry some Shure IEMs (and other brands) but I'm not sure if they're good deals.

Also their firestone products get this discount too (Fubar, Spitfire, etc.)

Use this link with the promo code attached:

www.8thstreet.com/promoinfo.asp?code=P112410

It ends after Cyber Monday.
