After my Stax Lambda purchase, and my Koss ESP-950 purchase, and my Stax SR-001mk2 purchase, I was pretty sure i was done buying headphones. I mused that if i some day found a great deal on a Lambda Nova Signature i might add it to my stables, but that this was unlikely to happen as the LNS has become fashionable.

 

Today i have purchased an AKG K270 Playback.

 

I do not know what this portends.

You might want to think about a 12 step program before you end up with a HD-800 or a T1.

Btw, to K270's are an underrated headphone, imo. Most probably due to a nasty Headroom review from way back when.

 

I found them very balanced in their signature - classic AKG sweet mids with tempered highs & lows. They sound better than the newer K271 models. And they are also comfortable as all hell. I wish I had never sold mine.

The LNS were great.  I am trying not to regret selling them.  I am thinking about picking up one of the Stax portables though (SRM-001), as now I'm used to a bit of a darker sound, I could use them while driving to keep me calm (they have zero isolation, so no more danger than playing the radio and I don't listen loud) but I don't recall much good being said about the portable amp.

Well, like i said, the LNS is the next 'stat I'm interested in, but I'm not interested in paying $400 for it.

 

The K270 Playback is one I've been curious about for a long time, that doesn't become available all that often.

 I was never one for expensive sources.

 

But i am looking forward to finishing up a kit DAC i bought from some chinese ebay seller soon.
