Ultrasone edition 10 "THE BUTTERFLY" initial impressions - Page 6

I thought that conversations only had to go to sound science if they involved DBTs, so good to know.

Let Ultrasone's statement stand on its own.  Manufacturer's recommendation.  'Nuff said.

In order to be fair I assume you are editing out the burn-in talk on both sides of the spectrum? To edit out only the reminders that burn in, for all intents and purposes does not exist is not exactly fair when others are free to utter whatever they want.

Also, with any ultrasone thread this will come up because there does seem to be a lengthy adjustment time. People discussing whether or not it is psychoacoustic or the titanium drivers found in the ultrasones is not that far off topic and since people are posting about burn in anyways it is bound to come up.

Look at the massive ultrasone thread... there is tons of it there.

It is also not a witchcraft and wizardry thread either. :/

Anything that angers the audio gods is banished there. Any discussion of what actual goes on is unecessary because audiophiles have clearly proved through spending large amounts of cash that they are right, and skeptics are wrong. The amount of money spent directly correlates with what is happening in the physical world and is very much evidence of their super human ears... or so they would have you believe.

So... on the very on-topic subject of Edition 10 impressions, I'm going to have a balanced Beta 22 with dual Sigma 22 power supplies at my disposal for testing the Edition 10. I'll have to use the single ended output for now, but the input will be balanced.

That wasn't an attempt to start a discussion about balanced vs. single ended or anything like that, by the way. I'm keeping it 100% on-topic. Yes-sir-ee.

2 PSUs? Sounds overkill. Why?

As an impressions thread, there are none here unless thinker writes them, the rest is all speculative anyways. So this thread is essentially dead in the water for a bit longer.

One per channel. Why? My guess is "just because."

My brother is the owner, so maybe he has a better justification.

Because the B22 is the definition of overkill.  Beautiful, beautiful, overkill.

It is so nice to see a headphone that is designed without compromise in terms of both sound quality 'and' build quality. I'm racking my brains here, but it seems to me (as far as dynamic drivers go), we would have to go all the way back to the R-10 and Qualia 010 to find a product that fits this description. This is exciting news, indeed. With that said, the Edition 10 is not really my aesthetic. It looks like it was designed in the Art Deco era and refined over the last 80 years. I often make qualitative judgements on this forum (to the ire of many) but l can't fault the Edition 10 on any grounds. My reservations about the Edition 10's aesthetic are strictly personal. The Edition 10 is to a 30's era Delahaye as the 010 is to a McLaren F1. Dinner is served.

Sasaki has a set and posted some impressions. Check out his blog. Superb pictures as well.

The qualia actually had horrible performance in terms of it's dynamic driver, but I am sure it sounds good... The R10 used biocellulose and some no longer work... Saying the E10 is the best dynamic implementation since those two might not be as positive a statement as you think ahah. :P

But seriously, what have you read that leads you to believe the technology in the E10 is better than say an HD 800? I am not saying one is better than another, but I have not read anything saying what kind of advancements Ultrasone is using, whereas there is tons about the supposed advancements of the HD 800... any sauce?

Many of the Audio GD DACS have three R-core PSUs. And they are not small either.

Totally agree, there was nothing offensive or against the rules in your post. It was off topic but given what has been going on in this thread not inapropriate.
