Impedance has nothing to do with them not responding good to amping..

If you check my other cans you will see that they are low impedance cans but they shine through amping..

They only good thing with 448 are vocals..

They leak at volumes above normal, they do not have sufficient clamping force and so on..

I quite believe these are cans for children who buy their first toy.

But none of you or the OP stated what kind of music do you listen to..blink.gif

Do not get HD 448.

I've made the mistake of bying them without spending too much time searching head.fi and i was very dissapointed .

Very limited cans without bass and certainly not good isolation..

They don't respond good to amping, distorts on higher volume and certainly  won't make you love them..

What kind of music are you listening to?

448's were my first real headphone*I have come a long way* I still bust them out when ever I'm at my grandmas house to listen to her vinyl set up. The warmth they have is just inceribal on vinyl*swoon* No the sound is not for everyone, as they lack detail but the make up for it in the smoothest sound I have ever heard, smooth with a touch of mud int he bass but it's not flabby at all and the high end may be a bit washed out but is by no means buried by the mid range and bass.

I have tried both.

HD280 has better and rich sound. The drawback (for me): it's very tight. You can only use it for a hour or bit more. What's achieved here is passive noise cancellation of 20 - 30dB. It's necessary if you're in noisy environment.

HD 448 is a great headphone. I will recommend it for day to day use, even for long period of time. It's very comfortable to put on, not too much pressure on the ear. It has some passive noise reduction. My guess is ~10dB or so...

Good luck!
