Help with an interconnect

I am trying to make an interconnect for my amplifier to go to my sound card.  The interconnect I made so far has a 1/4" adapter on the end that goes into the amp, and a 3.5mm plug that goes into the sound card.  It works great when the 1/4" adapter is slightly pulled out from the amplifier.  But when I push it all the way in, I only get sound from the left speaker.  I checked both connections and they look great.  Could someone please help me with this?  All I would like to do is be able to push it all the way in the amplifier and I am set.  Thank you!

um, i am pretty sure i just checked the connections on the plug and one of the signals was touching the ground connection, that's all.

Headphone jacks are a bit funny like that every now and then.  Usually not a problem after a little wiggle, though it always freaks us out for a minute doesn't it.
