I just got my new RE-ZEROs, and I don't know what the adapters are for.

Only other quality phones I've owned have been the Westone UM1 and UM2, as I'm rather new to this.  Neither came with an adapter of any sort.

 

I'd appreciate it if anyone could explain why these adapters are included and which I should use.

The RE-zeros are built with a 4 pole 3.5mm plug that allows you to use them with balanced headphone outputs. The adapters allow you to use the RE-Zero's with unbalaced headphone outputs like an ipod.

both adaptors are the middleman between your iem's and the listening device you use(ipod/discman etc)

 

instead of putting your iem directly to the phones socket  ,you put the adaptor

 

iem>adaptor>ipod

 

hope you understand what we are talking about

 

if not ask again

 

plug the iems into one of the adaptors

 

and plug the adaptor to your ipod/discman

 

and you're good to go

Basically, the way the earphones are wired differently, so the connections on the plug are different than the ones that a normal 3.5 mm jack outputs, and you need an adapter so the sound comes out properly.
