I hope this is the right place to post this.
I own a rather old Moon i-5080 (http://www.simaudio.com/mooni5080.htm) AMP that's connected to my computer. Its power comes through a Newstar NF-500 AC to AC converter (http://www.hktdc.com/suppliers-products/AC-AC-Converter-500-2500Watt-Metal-case/en/1X0006F3/414224/ - albeit an older model) for converting American to European voltage. Both have been working fine for many years. On a recent house cleaning, though, things must have gone astray: The AMP now overheats when in prolonged moderate use. There's a distinct "something is burning" smell and it shuts itself off. I can let it cool down and re-run it, but that's obviously not helping. Can anyone point me towards what might be the problem? could dust be causing it? should I unscrew it and air-blow the inside?
Although I don't think it's related, the AMP is also connected to:
- Rega Planet CD player (http://www.rega.co.uk/html/planet.htm)
- 2 x Paradigm 11 v.2 monitors (http://www.paradigm.com/products/paradigm/floorstanding/monitor-series/monitor-11 - albeit an older model)
Would appreciate any advice.
