Im trying to decide what kinda of headphone would be good For The above music. Possibly for portable use and Home use. I look at some ultrasonnes, Demoed some at sam ash, good headphone.

But i was also looking at the SHure 840. Also a great headphone. Any Suggestions would be Much apprieciated, i already Own the BeyerDynamic 770spro80 and Ath-m50.

Go with the Ultrasones, I prefer the Pro/PL series.

The Shures don't have enough bass for dubstep. All I can recommend is Grado HP1s or Senn 800s.

i use the sennheiser hd205-II and they slap hard and the drivers vibrate the ears. you actually feel the drivers flex but only when i have it hooked up to my 1983 hitachi stereo amp and 70's kenwood amp.

just straight out my sony walkman they still give very satisfying bass reproduction.not as much impact as being hooked up to an amp but still very good and are made for electronic music. i listen to lot of trip-hop,dubstep,DnB,trance,ect. as well. soundstage though is not very wide or deep. has some height to it as well i can hear. i think it's mainly due to it being closed but the instrument seperation and detail retrival is pretty good..

the shure's are very good also you mentioned but i think there for studio use mostly so there designed to be flat as possible like most studio headphones. i would also suggest sony mdr-v700's since there more for dj use and has more of a bass hump compared to my sennheisers but heard they have problems with the joints. Technics RP-DH1200 are step up from the sonys in over all sound quality and still hits very well in low-end since there designed for dj use as well.

just suggestions. i haven't had much experience with headphones. most dj headphones work well with portables since there designed for efficient mixers and cd decks.

Have you considered IEMs? Since I got my Senn's IE8 I need no other phone for electronics, and for dubstep they are simply _fantastic_.

The reason I got ordered the DT990 is because they are heavy bass hitters (though not the muddy bass, but punch you in the face bass), have a large soundstage, and do well with the music you mentioned, Johnny. Of course, they are open, so skip if you need closed.

I know which one fit my taste..., I like the Pro/PL 550, and the 650/HFI 2200. You'll need to try them out and see for yourself which one will fit your tastes : )

i think dubstep sounds pretty damn nice on the HD650. great bass, good soundstage.
