What is a very good Sennheiser HD800 cable? I can pay $500+ - Page 3

The Double Helix Cables Complement and Clone are some of the best HD800 cables I've heard.

Let me get this straight... you have the $1400 HD800 running off a half-decent DAC that can be had for $400 and a cheapie $270 amp and you want to spend $500 on a CABLE!!!?  Even coming from me, a "cable person", that's just not a good way to spend your money!

i like the cardas for the HD800 although components will dictate what cable would be best.

I'm going to have to agree with some of the opinions here. Sell the Matrix and use the $700 total for a nicer amp. IMHO the amp has made the greatest impact on a specific headphone like the HD800. Source, DAC and then cables. You already have a good DAC, you should have an amp that is at least on par with it, if not better. I have found spending more money on an amp has given me more difference for my money for a headphone than anything else. You can always upgrade the cables after.

I got a Cardas cable for €300 from ebay. I can notice a definite improvement in the quality of the headphones, the bass is more prominent, vocals are more clearer. I am glad I got it.
