Recable- quiet + distortion?

Just finished recabeling my d2000s- have a problem though. They are very quiet and get distorted if I increase volume, any idea what I did wrong? Issue is with both channels.

possible cold solder joints.

When I soldered the connection on the headphone terminals, I just tinned the wire and used the existing solder left over to make the connections- I was afraid to over heat terminals. This is wrong, but I assumed as long as they were touching it was cool. I soldered the plug correctly- would thus cause the problem?

Cold solder joints are often hard to predict from your method alone, unless there is something severly wrong with it!

If I were you, I'd re heat your solder joints you made, making sure that the two pieces do NOT move wile getting soldered/cooling down. You should not need to heat the joint for too long and therefore should not melt whatever else it about. To hold your items down, use something like blu-tack or window putty, leaving both hands free for fine work.

Good luck smily_headphones1.gif

fixed the initial solder joints, still the same problem, so i took the plug apart. apparently the tip made contact with the ring (i used pliers to close the clasp, apparently, i used to much pressure- DOH). after separating the tip from the ring, everything worked great smily_headphones1.gif, except the cable looks like hell  so i'm going to start from scratch again, this time with a better idea of what not to do smily_headphones1.gif

thanks
