In Ireland we have 220 volts, but I am interested in getting a device from America, which would be 110 volts. Is there a device which can make it happen? A power switch or something?

It is called a step-down transformer (or some call it 'AC-AC converter'). Generally speaking, you need to look for 1) one with higher output rating that the input rating of whatever you want to connect it to, i.e. 100W output to 60W input. 2) The heavier the transformer, the better (a simple guideline, not always the case). 3) Low heat.
