Left my amp on by accident :-(

Hello all, this is my first post, but I've been a lurker for some time. I have a question for anyone in the know. I left my tube amp on for 12 hours when I accidently left the house without turning it off, it is a DIY I bought from someone and is running 307a output and 6sn7 input.  Obviously it is not suggested to leave your amp on for possible wearing out of tubes, but should there be any danger in leaving the amp on in terms of damage to the amp itself or degradation of sound. When I did get home, the amp was very hot. I want to make sure it didn't damage the circuitry.

I just want to clarify not to worry about damage.

Thanks in advance

There shouldn't be a problem, other than your having to subtract 12 unlistened hours from the overall life of the tubes.

No, if anything it probably sounds better. While there are cautions with leaving a device on while away from it, some people leave their gear on all the time.

Tubes will last for thousands of hours unless faulty. I routinely leave my tube amp on for 5 to 30 hours+. My tube amp is 5 years old with the same tube set for most of this time.

This.  There's also the fire risk issue, in addition to minor (I hope) additional costs on your electric bill.

It is my opinion that you should send the tubes to me for disposal.

Please include the amplifier they go in as well.

It has been over a month since the incident, do  you hear anything wrong?

nikongod, Maybe after you check out his amp/tubes, you should send it to me and I'll put it through my "TUBE AMP TEST", then I'll return it to you for a recheck..........Hey, I think you started a good plan for all of our Brothers......wink.gif

This should only be done if the amp is stored in a specially designed box full of gasoline soaked rags.
