Is it possible that your Test Included one with a Volume Cap?

I am looking here as I really want to try these SM3. There are a couple of USED ones up on the FS. It has been really hard to go back to Balanced Armatures after listening for to Dynamics, and especially the Moving Armatures Ortofons, But the SM3 still are talking to me.

Ok, just ordered 32gb j3 and 32gb card, and whiplash hybrid cable (yes I know cable is more than phones, but plan on getting customs oneday to fit this cord also).....intrigued by digizoid, but read mixed reviews on if it actually does anything for the sm3 and I'm thinkin I'm gonna pass unless anyone else has positive experience with cowon j3, digizoid (1or2), with sm3's, but not sure if anything will make current setup sound better, almost perfect for me but can't wait to see what subtle changes the cable brings and to play with the J3

I have the digizoid and personally I don't the SM3 needs it nor will it benefit from it. I only use the digizoid Zo for the CK10 as it does benefit quite a bit from it.

I agree. The SM3 are not a good match for the ZO. The ZO works great with a lot of phones, but not these, for my taste.

Yep, I've come to find that more people say these don't really benefit from amping so much. Dfkt, just wanted to say thanx as I've read many of ur posts here and other places that led me to the cowon player and sm3v2.....thanks to others as well.....can't wait for j3 to arrive tommarrow, cable will be couple weeks but that's ok

Right. I just got my SM3, which is my first BA IEM, and I have been told it needs like 100 hours of burn-in. Is this true? :)

No, this is completely untrue.

So every time I twist my SM3 jack while listening I'll get some distortion. Nothing major, just a quick static pop. Any thoughts?

Rub it down with some newspaper to get rid of eventual oxidations. If it's the player jack that's crackling it might be a bit more difficult to clean.

Worked like a charm. You're a champ dfkt. High five buddy.

Cheers. :) Rough newspaper is the most subtle "sand paper" to get the job done, without scratches.

Okay dfkt. :) But it sounded better than compared with when its fresh out of the box though. blink.gif

Your brain is just getting used to sound signature that SM3 posses.

Indeed. I hated the SM3 right out of the box, especially with the foamies. After a few days however they turned out to be some of my favorite IEMs ever, after I got used to their rather unique tuning. ;)
