What's your opinion on Musical  Fidelity M1 with T1?

What mod did you do on it?

I listened to T1 hooked up to a Naim DAC+ Beyer A1, and the soundstaging is

so immense I bought the T1 in a heartbeat. But I couldn't afford a $4000 Naim DAC

so I am still searching for an affordable solution. If any consolation, the T1 does

make my tiny Audio Technica amp sounds better than before :-)

For the price, the M1 is a very good DAC... I change all the caps, the OP amp and the rectifier ! Sound more natural and open than before. You can also change the voltage regulator !

Now I'm currently building a Krell KSA-5 clone, and I have ordered a Eddie Current 2A3... (I have also a SR-009 and Electra in order bigsmile_face.gif)

Curious to see what it will give the T1 !!

i forgot about this thread

anyway, i've been using gsxmk2 lately a lot.  really dynamic and transparent.  didn't know t1 can sound like that but, still i think i prefer warm, warmer sounding amp.  so i like wa5 and rp010b more for t1

T1 Rig: Buffalo III / Fully Balanced βeta 22

Now that's a pretty good T1 rig

So I'm looking at either the Fostex HP-A8 or the Soloist SL as my next amp for the T1. I'd love to hear experience with either or any other suggestions. No OTL tube amps please since it will also have to drive my D7000 and 7100, and no obscure Chinese sweatshop brands either. My budget is up to 1k.

Hi guyz!

My question would be this:

At the moment I'm using my T1 with Xonar Essence Pci-x - Audiotailor Jade / with upgareded tubes / - T1.

What kind of difference could I hear, if I would change the Jade with the WA2? Would it worth the price of $1800 with the tube upgrades?

Am I about to experience the difference between heaven and hell? Or there will be only some minor difference?

My trigger finger is happy, but it has to wait till I get some responses and till payday :--))

Thy guyz for the answers!

At the moment I'm really happy with the current setup. The Jade is capable to drive the T1 easily to ear bleeding levels. To have the knob around 11 o'clock makes my ears bleed. So I'm expecting more like a quality boost in the sound, more thicker sound, wider sound stage, better positioning etc...

Oh yeah, the T1 beats to a pulp my DT880/600 with the Jade already.

I have 2 days to decide, cause my finger is itchy, and wanna buy something :--))

Thx again!

Send a PM to Dubstep Girl. She will tell all about that combo.

Thx, but she already posted a comment on my issue.

And it seems, that I won't get any idea about the difference, till I hear it for myself.

At least there will be a new WA2 for sale for the community if it doesn't prove to be good. Really good.

I was using the T1 with an Audio GD Phoenix and he was too clean for me ! It lacked that little extra to make it alive !!

I now using a Eddie Current 2A3 with solid plate EML, which are much better. He is not so neutral as the Audio GD, but much more pleasant to hear :-)

Naim DAC and Beyer A1 is a magical combination. Made me buy T1 immediately, too.

Currently my beyer is playing on Naim V-dac. It has quite good dac and Headline headphone amp packed in one box, along with some other stuff... Compared to A1, there is the same amount of details, dynamic is just great, soundstage is more than decent, but not like on A1. Somehow, the sound is not 'live' as compared to the combo of two beyers, but sounds more like an amazing studio recording. That's the biggest difference I noticed.

I don't know for other owners of T1, but mine one could sometimes sound too bright for my taste. Bass does go quite deep, but I often find myself increasing it a bit more on equalizer... I'm trying to fix that with a different amplification, but no results so far. I've read a lot of threads and saw that many of you bought a tube amp. Is there any improvement in sound, possibly a bit darker one? Does replacing a tube with a different one really makes such a change in sound nature? Anyone else finds the T1 a bit bright sometimes?

Woo is not available in my region, Concerto as well... From tube amps, I can choose between Cayin, Pathos, Unison Research... I'm a bit reserved to ordering via e-bay.

It did sound a little bright to me in stock mode. I changed the cable for a OCC copper cable and I also mainly use it with my Woo but even with m,y V200 I personally don't think sound bright anymore and really like them.

Yes, different tubes have different sound characteristics that is why tube rolling is so much fun.

The brightness could be due to the cabling or the source. I was using Mac Mini 2010 and I need to turn down the treble a lot for many tracks in my library. I did change the USB cable to a better one (don't need to pay for those insanely priced $1K type of cable) and the treble peakiness is reduced somewhat. Then I switched to my 2008 MacBook and the sound improved further, more balanced & less peaky. Also, if you are using iTunes, you may want to switch off the EQ. Some tracks actually sound much better without EQ.

If you are not listening at high volume, the Beyer sounds great, dark background & transparent mids. But if you are listening at high volume, like me, yes, T1 can sound unbearably bright. Especially so, if paired with bright system like Bifrost/Asgard 2, which I have come to conclude is designed & tuned for Orthos like Audeezs (those are very hard to drive especially the highs). I am looking for a DAC/Amp replacement soon.
