Sludge Metal Appreciation Thread

I'm fed up with the "Lets Talk Metal Thread" so here's a dedicated thread just for the Sludge side of Metal.

 

Please note, that this...

...is Sludge Metal.

 

However other more progressive forms of Sludge are allowed, such as "post-metal." I however hate the term post-metal, so it shall be known as "Progressive Sludge."

Meh, I was listening to Mastodon at the moment. It felt right. What would you classify Mastodon as then?

 

I listened to Sleep - Dopesmoker for like the thousandth time. The fact that it's an hour long never really stopped me from listening to it. As soon as the vocals start I kinda lose track of time, and then it's over.

Listening to Paegan Terrorism Tactics by Acid Bath.  Shit is downright awesome sludge.  

 

Lately I've been listening to a lot of Eyehategod too( saw them at Maryland Deathfest which got me into them)

 

Mastodon( Remission- Leviathan) is most certainly sludge metal

Mastodon to me was always Metalcore like Botch, Converge, etc.

X2 on the Baroness and Sleep mentions. Sleep is epically bad ass (as is High on Fire). I've also been listening to a lot of ASG lately, though they aren't really that sludgy. Oh yeah, Black Tusk completely kicks ass too:

The only Sludge Metal I've enjoyed so far is Weedeater. Saw them live, and they raped.
