Fake Shure SE530?

Well, while I was just looking around Craigslist, I found a deal for the Shure SE530s. The owner says he still has it, so I'm planning on purchasing it.

However, I'm thinking it's a fake because it's only 120 Canadian dollars. Sounds too good, and hard to believe that the owner still has them. He/She even says it's available for testing. Not knowing how the Shures sound, it seems kinda fishy.

Any help is really appreciated.

I suspect that they're real as they have the cable problem. Trouble is, It will cost you at least another $150 when they break and you need a replacement which is probably close.

Well, if they break you could spend $90 to get them reshelled into customs. But yeah, the SE530's have cable problems, which is why I had mine reshelled already.

luckily mine are about a year old with zero cable problems

According to the craigslist add, the molding is stripped on one side. Which means that it does suffer from the infamous cable issue. With that in mind, it is a reasonable asking price. I haven't heard of any SE530 fakes.

I haven't heard SE530 fakes either. I agree that it's a reasonable price considering the cable issue. I'd really only consider them if you wanted to upgrade to more drivers and put in a custom mold or just put them straight into a custom mold however it won't be cheap if you go for the first option.
