Personally, I find it sound excellent but very different from Cowon's older player iaudio6.

iaudio6 have more punchy bass but the new iaudio9 excel in clarity and the instrumental seperation is way much better.

Here's my own EQ tweet I use for my Shure SE535...

80hz - 6
220hz - 2
780hz - 4
2.4khz - 2
13khz - 1
All setting wide.

BBE - 3
Mach3bass - 5
3D surround - 3
MP enhance - on

Stereo enhance - 1
Reverb - 1

It's a very good player, but it is colder than Sansa Fuze, it sounds better to me when using warmer earphones. I prefer, for example, using Silver Bullet or PR300 than Etymotic mc5 with it.

Indeed it is a very good player!!! Loving it!

I've been thinking about getting one myself.

Hows the battery life when it comes to playing music (no video)?

I've read its a very good mp3 player but mixed reviews on the battery life.

All my music is encoded in flac.

Thank You. I hope you enjoy your new Cowon Player. All my mp3 players were Cowon i just love their sound quality.

My very first mp3 player was a Cowon U3 and now i have a Cowon D2+. All excellent sounding players.

It will last around at least 8 hours with my 320kbs mp3.

Sound quality is top notch and the reason why I dun get Cowon J3 is because it is way too big to mount on my Pico amp.

are you guys amping directly from the headphone out?  Is there some way of getting a LOD from the iaduio 9, or a setting that bypasses the opamps giving a cleaner signal for your pico's to amp?

No, when amped you have to pass by the headphone stage.

right, so is the plug you have it in a direct line out, or is that the headphone plug and you need to adjust the settings somehow in the firmware to bypass the headphone out?  I'm trying to get a get idea of whether or not this thing has a line out, im assuming given your response that it does, -- just curious how it works.

iaudio9 have a clean HO already and it does not have Direct LO.When mated the iaudio9 to my Pico amp and SE535. this is just heavenly!!!

iAudio 9 is pretty fine on its own, but amping does make a difference.  I listen with "chilly" etys and amped the sound warms up considerably.
