Hello, me and my buddy are going to be purchasing FUN's. Currently, I have a Little Dot I+, and an SMSL mini dac, which will be replaced in the dac spot by the FUN's dac portion, with the amp section of the FUN driving HD580 while the I+ will drive low impedance stuff (Grado SR325i). As much as I previously wanted to sell it, it just sounds too sweet and too accurate with low imp cans to let go of. I've got it perfected and I won't sell it for nothin' now.
My question is, how should I configure the fun? I want the DAC portion to be very neutral so as not to upset the I+'s balance, and the amp portion needs to drive HD580's to their fullest. What's the more neutral DAC in the FUN, 1852 or 8741? I want the dac chip that's truest to the source, not widening the sound stage artificially, not bringing bass up, etc. I now nothing is perfect, but of the two options, what's MORE neutral? Do I need to go V.A or is V.B sufficient? Will I be missing much with V.B? It's 1/3 cheaper so I figure it's a good way to be "ballin' on a budget".
What op amp should I run in the FUN, as of right now we're planning on buying one of each of the op amps so we can roll freely through all 3. What I'm curious about is what other possible tweaks can we do? I want ultra neutral, he probably wants a warmer darker presentation to balance out his ath's and senn 555's.
