Hello I'm buying new IEM's this week and a DAP too, I need a little help deciding.
First of all, I'm ruling out HiFiMan, a little expensive and I don't need a DAC.
Second, I'm ruling out Cowon S9, I've already had one and I'm one of the few people that didn't like the Cowon S9, I sold it within a week, I found the sound to be too 'filtered' or 'veiled' if you will, and I felt like there was an artificial eq curve even without the eq turned on which is annoying, I want my DAP to have a 'raw' and neutral high-quality sound and a few half-decent eq settings on top of that, I usually choose the "pop" eq setting, or I peak the sub-bass, lower the mid-bass, increase upper-treble. I also prefer my DAP to have some kind of reverb/3D settings.
Oh and I don't mind background hiss at all, when I listen to music I tend to forget it's there, I rather have background hiss than some kind of filter that removes it, I know this from experience.
RoCoo-A seems ok, but it doesn't have any eq whatsoever, which is a minus, however I'll still consider it.
This leaves me with the S:Flo 2, Hippo Gumstick and Cube C30, which one will suit my sound preferrance the best? I don't care about fancy UI and a big screen for videos and trash, I already have that on my mobile phone, gumsticks are fine if they have good sound quality which is why the C30 and Hippo are within my consideration.
Should I pre-order the S:Flo 2 16GB, and wait for it? Or should I buy the Hippo Gumstick and Cube C30? price and storage will be roughly the same.
I'm purchasing my new IEM's and DAP this week, wednesday I think, only in Singapore for 2 days so I can't hesitate, upgrading my portable solution from a sony gumstick and A-Jays Three, and will be using my new portable solution for at least a couple years I hope and I listen to music on the go every single day, so any help is really appreciated, thanks! =)
