Help Please! Need to fix PortaPros

Hi guys! I broke my portapros a few days ago, and I'm wondering, is there any way to save them? They had a disconnected wire before ( loss of signal in one ear) but now they've become this state.... I have access to a soldering iron and one random plug i had for electronics class. How would I go about fixing these?

The PortaPros should be covered by Koss's lifetime guarantee - just send them back to get fixed.

Yeah, i know, but last time i checked, canadians have to pay more than the 6 dollars USD.. but i'm not sure.

i'd think it'd be more economical to fix em myself, and it'd give me some valuable experience...

$6 sounds like an unbelievable bargain to fix that.

I imagine you have radio shack up north correct? Quick fix would be to get one of these and use the screw terminals, you don't even need to solder it. I would recommend some heat shrink though as the spring doesn't really grip the cable esp not the skinny stock Prota Pro cable.

Edit:

Re-read the OP and if you have a plug then all you need to do is solder it on. Black wire should be left channel so you need to solder it to which ever tab is connected to the tip (use a continuity tester) Red wire goes to the other tab. The two remaining wires are ground and should be soldered to the long tab in the center.

I would check the plug that is torn off to make sure red is right and black is left. Just remember the tip is always left.

Thanks yellowjeep! I tried soldering it onto the plug, but it didn't work, after i made sure everything was connected properly. I just chopped off the cable along with the plug from some crappy earbuds, and i soldered the ends that attach onto the drivers in my portapro. Thanks!
