Hello So i decided to bug akg about the k1000 So i posted on their facebook page And they replied to me: "AKG The K1000 seems to be hot lately. We're hearing you guys" to me thats a good thing i think that if more people put preassure on them they may bring back the k1000

Interesting. I'd love to get a K1000 at a non-discontinued price.

What makes you think that the new price would be cheaper than the present price.

I wish they would bring back the k501s.

Anything would be better than current 3x original street price ($400).

Because once a headphone becomes discontinued the price skyrockets.

It costs nearly $700 for a set of drivers,do not hold your breath for $400.There appear to be a lot of dreamers in this thread with thin wallets.

I'd also buy the K501 without any doubt. It seems too hard to find right now.

I also don't understand why the AKG 240 is $100 and the 271 is like $165+. 272 is $349?!

Some of the US prices on AKG headphones is just strange. I still see big online shops selling the AKG 701 for $399!

You're obviously missing the point, he's saying that the original street price for the K1000's was $400. The only reason a set of k1000 drivers cost $700 is because they're discontinued. Thats the point all of us "thin wallet" people are trying to make, discontinued Cans cost more than cans still in circulation due to their rarity.

I consider the K1000 to be hi-end in soundstage and imaging only.  Every other aspect of the K1000 has been surpassed years ago, they'd be a fool to charge hi-end prices for a K1000 as is, if production were to re-commence.  I do wish they either commence reproduction of the K1000 - at mid-level prices.  Alternatively they can commence development of a next generation earspeaker concept - for that I will pay hi-end prices, no doubt.

I think the market for 1K plus headphones has ballooned in that last year or so - what was not feasible in the past may well prove feasible in the present.  I'm sure AKG has commenced a feasibility case study already - there is a juicy pie chart that looks tasty in the current market conditions.

It is unwise from a business strategic POV to post comments like they did in regards to the K1000 in such a well established medium as facebook, and prove to be nothing more than raising and then crushing of hopes.  They obviously wish to stir the pot for a reason.

So what they really mean is; they'll make some silver, black, and red k701's and call them k1000 edition?

Fool me once shame on you... fool me twice...
