And suddenly, tinnitus struck.

A light ringing in my left ear. Plugged the ear: still there. So yep. Tinnitus struck.

I actually never had tinnitus before, although I frequently heard about it.

Lack of sleep? Actually these days I haven't exposed myself to much noise, and my listening is a average one (1) CD (about an hour) per three days. Although these days I do have to get up at five forty-five, when it's still dark, and start coughing Z's not before some ten o'clock at night.

Also there's the stress waiting for that model car, which has been stuck in customs for three days now.

Also I've been wearing a white coat and have been contacting harmful chemicals seven hours a week, every week, for some eight weeks now.

Ahaha.

Gradually I'm getting crazy. Oh well. Weekend ahead.

I would suggest seeing a ear, nose and throat specialist just to get checked.  Tinnitus can be triggered by allergies, stress, caffeine, infection or worse of all - nerve damage.

I'll get some good sleep first, see if it helps.

It's normal and should be temporary. I've had it a few times and I don't expose myself to loud environments.

Excess earwax can also cause tinnitus. I occasionally have problems with wax buildup and it invariably leaves me either with one ear plugged, or else with tinnitus.

Well I gave myself an extra hour of Zee-coughing activity last night and no more tinnitus today. Hope it stays that way. Will get some good sleep this weekend (then it's back to the normal schedule). Oh darn. 10:20 PM ET already.

Also illness, certain medications and believe it or not running and/or vigorous sustained physical activity can contribute a bit.

I'm 34 now, but when I was a teenager I went to a lot of very loud metal shows in very small clubs.  I always wore earplugs, but the one time I didn't was in 1993(oh I'm so old) for Sepultura/Fear Factory/Fudge Tunnel/Clutch.  I was deaf by the 2nd song, and recall being terrified my hearing would never come back.  It did, but every now and then I will get horrible ringing in one ear for no reason.  I will just be sitting at my desk and all of a sudden it's like a grenade went off right next to me.

Rest them. Rest them. Sometimes it takes day. Or weeks. Or month. My worst bout lasted a year and a half.

I've found I can suffer from it occasionally when I let water go all the way into my ears. Not always, but sometimes. Like the last couple of days. Graaah. It's probably an errant hair or something. It tends to sort itself out. If it occurs more often I'm going in for a diagnosis.

Sleep, hydration (drink lots of water, lots!) rest from loud environments, maybe a round of debrox to to rule out wax, then see a doc if it's still present.

I saw sepultura when they toured for Beneath the Remains It was the first metal show at a club for me.  SHOCKED! by the volume and the scene in general.  Rarely wore earplugs.  dumb kid.The ETY earplugs work the best Ive found.

I saw AC/DC with my dad last year, our seats were in row 105 or something so I figured earplugs wouldn't be necessary. Boy was I wrong. I had tinnitus for two weeks straight.

Ever since I get tinnitus randomly in my right ear, and sharp pains once in a while.
