No need for USB. Must have optical digital input.

what would be best under $250 ?

I stumbled on the following on Ebay. Has anyone heard about this one ?

 

Matrix cube 24/192 ASRC DAC + Headphone Amp

There is also a MATRIX-mini on Ebay from the same seller Coolfungadget, who's been posing on this forum frequently..

Are these Matrix models a good choice to drive my AKG K271 ?

How about just a pure headphone amp connected to TAPE-OUT of a Yamaha  HT receiver (or PRE-OUT) ?  would that work with the AKG K271 ? what would be a good choise in this configuration?

I'm down to these two:  HEED canamp  and Matrix M-stage.  which one would better fit the K271 ?

I really need to make a decision today as I have someone in Budapset who can buy the Canamp for me durectly from the factory.

So for K271, what do you vote?  Canamp or M-stage ?

Didn´t try the M-stage...

If you have a decent source/DAC, the Canamp + K271 (better with velour pads..) should be an awesome combination, sometimes more natural than with the K701
