SRPS, Single Regulated Power Supply

In my search for my next project I came across sort of an announcement at diyForums.org about a Single Regulated Power Supply. Coming Soon! Does anyone have any info about it? My search under "SRPS" didn't bring any hits back.

The SRPS is a power supply design by Dsavitsk.  The intent was to meet the demand for a more powerful/flexible LM317-based design.  With the discontinuance of the STEPS, it seemed to us that a need was still there for a simple, LM317-based power supply with sterling performance in the tens of microvolt ripple regime.  It doesn't really draw on the STEPS so much as the LM317 itself and perhaps some from cetoole's and mine experience with the MiniMAX power supply.  After all, the LM317 power supply schematics are available to anyone willing to read the data sheet.  The real distinction is in the PCB design.  In that, Dsavitsk has designed it to utilize the convenient 4" wide Hammond 1455-series cases, with an onboard 1" width heat sink, space for very large filtering capacitors, dual fuses, switch pads, an LED, even heat sink options for the rectifiers, and convenient terminal blocks.

 

It hasn't actually come to fruition yet, but here's a sample layout:

I enjoyed working on the Millet Hybrid Mini Max kit,  do you envision this to be a complete kit or just the PCB...  I prefer the complete kit but recognize the burden it places on you.  Will there be different voltage configurations?

 

Oh yah, almost forgot.... do you have an ETA?

The voltage is adjustable.

Yep - as Avro_Arrow commented, voltage is adjustable.  The "VSET" part in the layout is a voltage-adjust trimmer.  As with most LM317 implementations, you'd have to select different resistor values for R1 and R2 to get the full gamut of voltage range capability.  The VSET would give you about a +or-5V adjustment range with typical R1 and R2 values - about ~ 23 to 28V using values of 120 and 2K for R1 and R2, respectively.

 

ETA?  It's been ready for prototyping for awhile, but I was hoping to get Dsavitsk to change a couple of minor things before doing that.

Well this sucks,  maybe the Salas shunt reg has taken over.   I still have a need for LM317/337 board for setup and function testing. 

 

Tomb, are you going to make an announcement here when you start selling?

Yes, of course - but you should see prototype examples here, first.
