Received mine today from Amazon. Enjoying the 900 while listening to trance (Turn It Around/4Strings/Sandler mix) on the Cowon iAudio 7 and J3 with the JetEffect -> BBE set to 2.

i find the vocals are a little too recessed for my tastes but i do believe burn-in since i think the mids are coming out alot better now. liking these more and more now.

Well, I have found the SA6 is really adding value to my HJE900 besides just sounding better to me. I liked the UE silicon tips but couldn't really use them with the stock cables. The tips would keep pushing out of my ears. I had to settle on the Phonak tips, which are wonderful too, but I had an inkling that I would enjoy the UE tips a little bit more. So, for the first time today I used the UE tips with the SA6 cable and just got the most fantastic deep locked fit that I could have ever asked for. These are perfect! I can't really tell you the main differences yet between the UE and Phonak, but I think the UE balances the sound a little more and eases the treble some.

On the flip side, the stock large HJE900 blue tips seem to work well with the FX700. The experimenting continues, but for now I am going to enjoy the UE tips on the HJE900.

I can't test that for you at the moment, but it might bethe phones aggressiveness, or something with your source. As for your hiss question earlier, I could hear it too when I first got these, because theyare quite revealing headphones. If you have a bad source and/or low bitrate music, they will reveal it. I canhear compression artifacts at 192kbps with these, which I never could before. Also, at some point you should really change the stocktips, and maybe try the foam mod to help the recessed mids, though I think you will find that burn-in, whether mental or physical, will help that issue.

Only if you haven't had good phones before :P I don't find them any more or less than any decent pair I've had. Of course however my list of under v0 mp3 files isn' that high any more.

haha i had ksc75s which i liked so i guess they weren't as clear as these puppies. the mids are slightly more revealing now but please get back to me when you can test it out. also noticing it on songs where i guess it goes to a really high range? the song is "you already know " by train when in the intro.

edit:edit:

the song is just like that... didn't realize it was the synthesizer or whatever weird instrument.

mmmm how do the klipsch s4 compare to these? i see that they are going for 50 bucks.... i just want to know that the hje900 are like a tier above them...

A lot of people seem to like the HJE900s a lot but I wasn't impressed.  Sure they sound nice but my S4s are more fun to listen to.  I bought the HJE900 because of all the reviews but ended up selling after a week...I still have my Klipsch.

Technically the Panasonics are better, but subjective taste might rule it out for some as seen above. Hell I think Anaxilus likes the M1s more than the HJE900s which are much cheaper at 30$. This is just another example that nothing beats experimenting with different iems to truly make the right choice because sound preference is subjective. That is why I actually think starting off slowly buying different cheap IEMs is better than just trying to go for an expensive one thinking it will rule out others because of it's price.

yeah being a high school student who managed to get his parents to fund a pair of decent cans was a hard job so i think im stickin with these. plus the build quality is ridiculous and being a teen, i abuse my stuff and i hear the s4 has some durability issues so that basically rules it out for me.... and yeah i guess it is all subjective but i think most people would say that the 900s are a tier above? im pretty sure rawrster + joker say these are close to some of the top universals.

Hi,

Any idea if E1/E3/E5 Large Black Foam Sleeves or Shure PA910M Medium Replacement Foam Sleeve is going to fit into pana HJE900? I am planning to get the HJE 900, never liked silicon tips and I still have some fresh shure foams. I just want to get everything I need (also planning to get SA6 replacement cable) and pay only one international shipping fee, as I am in Singapore.

If the foams do not fit, any recommendation?

Oh yeah, off topic, wondering if anyone knows whether the UE replacement cable (vi version) will work with SF3?

Thanks

Great review, btw. :-)

I don't think the shures will fit cause the housing on the Shures is very small and judging from the pictures of the housing on the first page of this thread (still waiting on my 900's to arrive) the housing on the hje900's is too big.

You can decore the olive tips and then they will fit fine. I did that when I used them with the RE0 I used to own. You can get some tips that fit without modification such as the ones from MEElectronics or the UE TF10 silicone tips which both seem to work well for me. Lastly the only cable that fit these earphones are the Sleek Audio cables. UE and Westone use a different connector system so buying them would be a waste of money if you plan to buy them for this phone.
