Is there anything/anyone like Jeff Buckley?

Check out his father, Tim Buckley. Musically, he's much more experimental and hard to get into than Jeff, but you can see clearly when Jeff got his talent from. Almost all of his albums are great, but you can start from Happy Sad

I think "Grace" is a great record for sure!. Jeff's cover of Hallelujah is nothing short of phenomenal.

I recommend getting his EPs and live albums, some of the stuff on them is absolutely amazing, such as The Way Young Lovers Do on Live from the Bataclan.

Nick Drake? Both are a bit maudlin for my tastes.

I don't think there's been anyone quite like Jeff Buckley.  I prefer his father, especially his earlier stuff and then things like Lorca and Starsailor.  I don't feel much similarity between Jeff and Nick Drake.  If you want to go more towards the maudlin/drama side (but still good), you might find Rufus Wainwright interestingly close to that part of Jeff.  Then in a more dispersed kind of way, I do have an association somewhere between Jeff and Nick Cave.  But then it gets weird because I associate Nick Cave with Jim Morrison and Richard Thompson.

Anyway, all of those people are worth listening to, all uncompromising in their own ways.

My brother suggested that Justin Nozuka is the closest thing he knows to Jeff Buckley, although i think the only similarity is that they both have names that start in the letter j.  I personally feel that while there is no one quite in the category of "like" there are a few who I would put in the category of "If you like Jeff Buckley, you'll probably like ____."  Also, you can always go with his influences, (such as Joni Mitchell and Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks,") or check out similar artists on last.fm

How about Joan as Policewoman?
