Mini shelf system for workout

Right now I'm using my Clip+ with my Altec Lansing Zune speaker dock.  Every other song I have to stop and adjust the bass because the thing distorts and it's really annoying, so I wanted a mini shelf system that would have a sub and some "boom".

I'm not looking on spending a lot because the room gets messy with chalk flying around, so I was looking at this system:

I'm sure it's not up to the audiophile standard, but like I said, it's just for a workout room.  Are there any other competitors in this range that I should look at?  I don't want to spend any more than $200 so that probably limits me greatly.

I would definitely discard that option for the price there better speakers out there, look small studio monitors or mixing monitors they are usually a great bang for the buck

Plugging my MP3 player directly into my A5s sounds like crap to me.  I don't want to run into the same problem I have now, for my workouts I need some bass.

Don't get me wrong, on my PC my A5s have plenty of bass because I can EQ things better, but directly from the Clip+ doesn't sound good.

I've personally heard these speakers so I can attest that they really are pretty amazing and I think they'd be perfect for a workout room. You could get a cheap amp for them and be well under your $200 budget.

If you absolutely need something that is self-powered, AV40s?

Wow, an Insignia product worth owning?  Sucks they were apparently $50 and are now $90.

I do have a (probably junky) Sony amp in the same room, I'll have to check the model and get back to you about it.

What would be a good budget sub for these if I want one?

What about these?  30% off coupon puts them at $80 for the pair.
