Burson HA160D....no Toslink?

Thread Starter

Just cruised the Burson Audio website and see that they have the HA160D now  posted.  The Digital inputs are USB and Coax.  I was really hoping for Toslink, as that is my preferred connection to my macmini.  Oh, well...

Anyone get their hands on one yet?

Not yet, but it looks promising...you can check the specs on their website.

It will be good to have a toslink input option. I am running the HA-160D by USB now but don't feel the same resolution from Benchmark DAC-1. Just wondering 160D may be more a headphone amp with a bonus DAC fundtion. And DAC-1 is more a DAC with a good headphone amp.

How do you feel about Toslink to coaxial converters?

I also happened to just think of something.  We're seeing a trend in general of eliminating Toslink connections.  Now, since we've implemented asynchronous USB transfer, Toslink is the odd duck out.  USB used to have more jitter than Toslink, but now USB and coaxial potentially have lower jitter than Toslink.

Just some thoughts.  Rambling out loud more than anything.

When done well, USB is enough. Imo.
