Convert cubic feet to cubic yard question

If I have this correct:

9 cubic feet = 1 cubic yard so...

1200 cubic feet devided by 9 = 133.33 cubic yards.

Is this correct or am I wrong?

Thank you in advance for your help....Rick

Wolfram Alpha is your friend in this case:

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=1200+cubic+feet+to+cubic+yards

This is why we need the metric system. I try to avoid measuring things in the US customary system whenever I can.

Would this be correct: 1200 cubic feet / 27 = 44.44 cubic yards?

MCC: I clicked your link after I posted. Thank You. If I have this correct: Cubic feet devided by 27 will give you cubic yards. If I am wrong, let me know.

If a yard = 3 feet.

Then square yard = 9 square feet (3x3)

Then cubic yard = 27 cubic feet (3x3x3)

Do it thusly:

1.  Convert cubic feet to (a box of) linear feet.

2.  Convert linear feet to linear yards

3.  Convert (a box of) linear yards to cubic yards

27 cubic feet = 3 ft x 3 ft x 3 ft

3 ft x 3 ft x 3 ft = 1 yd x 1 yd x 1 yd

1 yd x 1 yd x 1 yd = 1 cubic yard

So, 27 cubic feet = 1 cubic yard
