do you guys bring along backup IEMs/headphones with you?

Thread Starter

I went to school today but accidently forgot my IEMs at home. sad day frown.gif

luckily for me I keep an IEM+mic headset in my car that I use for calls while driving. not as luckily tho, this is only a cheapo 99 cent headset that I bought online from HK (I still have no luck finding a set of custom IEM cables w/inline mic).... while it sounds okay enough for mobile skype, my ears aren't happy listening to them for music and I'm contemplating just giving my ears a rest til I get home tonight.

I actually have an unopened pair of Klipsch S4i in my room that I got on sale for $64, in case of emergencies (ie if I damaged or needed to part w/my customs for any reason).  I was planning on keeping it boxed to maintain resale value in case a better IEM headset deal came along before said emergency arose.  Kinda wish I kept them in my car now.  u__u

so yeah, back to my topic---just curious if many people bring along backup IEMs or headphones with them should they lose, forget, or break their primary sets?

I generally have a backup pair (and a backup mp3 player), they don't weigh much and they save a whole lot of boredom if you have a senior/blonde/HR moment...

When I'm out and about I carry the iGrados with me and some cheap Sony Earbuds.  I have a pair of Etymotic IEMs but I'm not often in a situation where the noise isolation is practical as I generally wear them at work around other people... so those are usually at home.

I don't typically carry spares with me, but I do keep extra sets at work. I have offices in multiple locations, so I have a set PX-100's in one place and a set of JBL 220 Pro's at another, plus I just bought a set of Denon AH-D1001's for work when IEM's aren't appropriate or are too much hassle to constantly remove/replace. I should probably keep a set in the car, too.

for the past several years I have had no fewer than 3 headphones on or about my person at any given time.

There are 3 pairs in my messenger bag and 3 permanently stationed in my work cube (plus the ones in my bag)

If I'm on the go I usually take my Re0s with me, but usually no not 2 at the same time.  I have the UE metal case for both of my IEMS so taking both of them would take up too much space.  I always have a set of IEMs with me, and I do have backup over the head set at work, so I guess that counts.

It depends!
For those short trips (walks) to work, city center or such - then I do not bring a backup pair. But for those longer trips (sleeping over) I have a spare pair of PortaPros in my backpack.

Yes on long trips, plus a couple which I take with me when I go to the office.

I always keep a spare pair of modded JVC Marshmallows with me. For $5 they sound pretty darn good.
