Wow! I just got this in the mail and it blew me away. J.J. Cale, Jim Keltner, Derek Trucks, Terry Evans, Wynton Marsalis and the London Session Orchestra and Trombone Shorty.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'd seen this was coming a few months back but had kinda' forgotten about it. I just went to Amazon to listen to clips, sounds good so I ordered it, $9.99+shipping.

I agree! I ended up listening to Autumn Leaves a good few times on the bus the other day.

On a Clapton related note, I've really started to like Reptile in the past few months-- previously not my most favorite albums (I like a lot of his recreations of blues classics, this didn't offer much for that) but if you like the Clapton album, I'm sure you'll find love within that album as well.

I love me some JJ Cale, that River Runs Deep Cut is very nice. I might just have to add this to my library. Just out of curiosity do you have the Clapton / Cale collaboration, Road to Escondido?

No, I don't have the Clapton/Cale, Road to Escondido. I have to admit I didn't give that one a fair shake kind of being a fan of Clapton's earlier work. But after hearing the "Clapton" CD I want to explore some of his more recent. Prior to re-building a better headphone system I have to admit I have a new ear for music. And I've sworn off iTunes downloads wink.gif

Maybe more like Clapton's style in his earlier albums are showing, as made out by others here.

But recommended!

Just ordered it on this recommendation. Thanks!

Landis, Reptile is a great revisit into Clapton's Records, of yesterday!  I pulled out "No Reason To Cry" this also is another EC classic blues style! I Love track6)  "Hello old Friend"........He's defiantly doing more jazz style of playing, Now, and I like it, but I love his earlier recordings (Got them ALL,on Vinyl)  any others???

The music is great.  The album though suffers from less than superior mastering.  It is compressed more than in should be.  It is louder than it should be.  It is brighter than it should be.  It is more sibilant than it should be.  The high frequency of the cymbals is hyped.  It's all tish tish tish in the highs, snap snap snap in the snare, and that tish tish tish is more prominent than it should be.  Maybe it was mastered for Apple earbuds?  Could be much worse though given modern mastering so it has that going for it.  My only compliment is that it is not awful.

The music is good.  My complaints are to do with the sound.

(this is in regards to Road To Escondido, I haven't heard the new Clapton album yet)

Wow. I haven't seen this lying around the house yet and my dad's license plate is "ECISGOD." Wonder if he knows...

Landis: x2 on the Reptile rec. Great album.

The music is great but the recording is not. I'm disappointed. It drives me nuts when such talented artists allow less than high quality recordings of their work to be published

Fatcat,  It is sad, Very few artist demand "only the Best" sounding recordings of their work!!!   I don't understand this at all.......They say IT'S the Record company's who's pushing the crap out the door..........Plus, the MP3 Quality of free down loads that most people except as the new sound sure doesn't help!!            JMO
