From Liberty Audio and the AES a free download of the Audio DiffMaker. Use it to record a before and after and find out if the new cable, or any other tweak to your system is actually audible.

I tried my first comparison and all I managed to do was record the TV off the laptop somehow. I have looked through help, but an idiots guide would be helpful.

i guess i would have to loop my DAC back into my PC to get a sound recording, but i'm using onboard audio which is fine for the digital out but i don't trust it for recording :P

 

 

i just abx'd some mp3 and a flac songs (of Idlewild, 100 broken windows) and completely failed to determine which was which, be interesting to see what the differences i'm missing are if i 'null' the wave files >_<
