Making my AC Adapter cell phone charger into a USB connection

I have a wall charger for my cell phone,  can i cut off the wall adapter and just put a usb connection on the end of it?  How can this be done and where would i get something like that?

Hello, USB is 5 V DC / 500 mA (questionable, some would say!!).

 

If your mobile phone charger outputs 5 V DC / 500 mA then this will be possible.

 

The cheapest and quickest way that I can think of is to chop the end off a USB extender cable and join the wall charger to the USB, if you are desperate to chop up your wall charger.
 

There may be a simpler and more elegant solution - what are you hoping to achieve by doing this?

i want my phone charger to connect to the computer because i hate having to unplug it all the time, etc.

Ahh ok I understand now (it's late here, sorry).

 

Surely there is a USB cable for your phone? eBay is a fantastic source for cheap cables. Do you know if it can charge using 5 V?

not sure on the voltage...it says output is 5.5vdc

I wouldn't do it, but that's just me. Without knowing if the phone has an internal Voltage regulator etc...

Just get a cable off ebay, there's bound to be one for your phone
