ATH-M50 vs. Shure SRH750 DJ's?

Hello everyone, first post here, but in need of some help in deciding which headphones to get.

I just purchased the Sennheiser HD 555's new on sale for $75 since after reading the reviews I found it to be a very good deal. However I am not that well versed in headphones and did not realize that they leak a lot of sound, which I can't have since I will be using these headphones for walking to class/on the bus.

Therefore what would you suggest for someone who listens to a lot of hip-hop/rap music and is looking for closed-air headphones (completely over the ear) for around $100?

I have found either the ATH-M50 or the Shure SRH750 DJ's. Which one would you suggest?

Thanks for any and all help!

Also just wanted to add that I won't be using an amp while listening. Here are some other headphones that I found as well:

Shure SRH440

Shure SRH840

Shure SRH750

So what would be the best pick out of those 5, or what would any of you suggest? Since I don't have an amp I am thinking either the ATH-M50's or the Shure SRH440.

TIA

you'll like the M50 for rap/hip hop since theyre bass heavy.  I prefer the more accurate sound of the 440 myself...

Thanks for the input MidgetT I'll keep that in mind, anyone else have any suggestions?

I like the Shure SRH750DJs. I own a pair and they don't really need an amp in my opinion. You can just run it straight from your iPod. The bass is really nice and doesn't overpower the highs and mids. Since i havent heard the M50s before i can't really compare and contrast between the two. But the 750DJs are pretty sweet headphones in my opinion. I think 750DJ fits the bill but be warned that its a bit uncomfortable lol.

x2

While the Shure's offer a more 'neutral' sound, the cans have been uncomfortable for some. The M50 is more 'punchy' and 'fun', but have slightly recessed mids. The Shure's tend to lack the deep or full bass of the M50.

They both offer similar isolation. Shure's soundstage is generally slightly wider with the M50 being a bit more closed-in.

For my purposes, the M50's are amazing.

Thanks for all the help guys I really appreciate it. After taking into account all of the suggestions it seems like it has come down to:

Shure SRH750DJ's vs. ATH-M50's.

Can anyone else comment on the SRH750 DJ's?

Thanks all

The Ultrasones  Pro-650 will be a great option.

Thanks for the suggestion Acix, I don't really like the look of the Pro-650's and they are a little more expensive than the SRH750's & M50's so I think I'll just stick with those 2 options for now.

Right now I am leaning towards the SRH750 DJ's based on looks and their reviews seem to be better as well.

If anyone else wants to chime in about the ATH-M50's being better let me know before I order.

Thanks a lot for all the help everyone!

You can't go wrong with the SRH750DJ's. They sound awesome.

The M50's are a bit better built though. But people generally prefer the Shures soundwise.

I've owned the Proline 650, but not the M50 or SRH750DJ. Of these three, FWIR, I would only consider the M50 or SRH750DJ for the music you listen to, and I'd go for the SRH750DJ if the budget allowed.

I had the M50s and was not overly impressed. Maybe they burned in weird or were from a bad batch, but if I had to do it again I would definitely get the SRH750DJs.

Really? Then people have been fooling me with the recommendations for the M50's in most thread.
