Newbie question about dedicated headphone amp and preamps

Hello all,

As the title states, I am a headphone newbie and have a newbie question about headphone amps and full system preamps.  Do many of you out there use dedicated can amps along with your normal stereo system with speakers?  If so, how do you do it?  Maybe it would be better if I explained my situation.......

My current home stereo system consists of a Logitech SB Touch feeding into an Eastern Electric tube DAC which then feeds an Emotiva USP-1 preamp a Van Alstine Insight 240 amp which powers my Salk Songtowers.  While I enjoy listening to this system, having two small kids and a fairly open house (system is in my family room) precludes me from listening to it during the evening hours.  As a result, I've purchased a set of BD 880's to plug into my USP-1 preamp.  While I generally like the sound of this combo, I found that with the incorporation of my EE tube DAC into the system that I really enjoy the sound of tubes and would like to incorporate more of them into my chain and I thought a nice tube headphone amp might be a nice addition.  Or even if I decided to stay SS, could there be a better sound out there in a dedicated SS can amp over what I'm hearing from my USP1 jack?

Here's where I'm a bit confused.  My EE Dac only has one set of RCA audio outs so right now it is plugged into my USP1.  The USP1 only has one set of audio outs as well so those are plugged into the AVA power amp.  How would I incorporate a separate can amp without having to redo cabling all of the time?

Thank for your input..........

You can use the tape output of your preamp to connect to a dedicated headphone amp.

Thanks!  Don't know why I didn't consider that.

Can anyone comment on the USP1 can jack vs. something like a Little Dot MKIII and the BD880's?  Would I gain much by going to a dedicated can amp over the USP1?
