New Walkman/MP3 player

Hi all,

I'm currently looking at purchasing a new personal cd player. I've always owned Sony's so I'm considering going with them again, the one player that caught my eye was the DEJ-2000 but after reading some of the review here I'm worried about the low volume levels. I use a pair of MX500's with my current Sony and the volume generally isnt a problem. I'm thinking of upgrading to one of the PX series soon, will the European model of the DEJ-2000 be able to drive these? Is it worth my while attempting to import a Japanese/American model as these seem to have fixed the volume issue? Also can anyone reccomend somewhere to pick up either a European or imported version online? MP3 playback isnt really an issue for me as most of my music is on CD but I havent ruled out a CD/MP3 player such as the iriver IHP series, how do these compare sound quality wise with the DEJ-2000 ?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Cheers,

John

The European version of the D-EJ2000 has a 1.2mW*2 output, which is rediculously low. I'd recommend importing a "world"/japanese or American one, I don't know if other countries have the 5mW*2 version besides these. If you want to listen to your 2000 besides in the library, then get the 5mW version.

Thanks for the info, can you reccomend anywhere that I could import it from? I've searched quite a bit and everywhere seems to deliver only in the U.S.

Actually, the European version of the D-EJ2000 has only an 0.5mW*2 output - even lower than what you said. That kind of output can only drive the cheap Sony earbuds, such as the ones that come bundled with the player. But driving anything larger, such as the Sennheiser PX100? Fuggiddaboutit.

oh, it must've been the MZ-N710 or N910 euro versions with the 1.2mW*2 output
