Faulty Image X5 to be returned, but model discontinued in UK

I got a pair of Image X5 earphones in Feb 2010 from a leading retailer in the UK. I have had a great time listening to the headphones, but recently the left earbud has started creating a hissing sound and that is just terrible. Could no longer use the X5 earbuds, and have been using my backup pair of S4's over the last couple of weeks.

 

Today I popped into the retailer to check if they'll be willing to replace the faulty set for me. Initially they said that they can replace the set only within 3 months of purchase but after a bit of convincing, they did agree to replace the pair for me. However, X5 has been discontinued and they don't have it in stock. I checked with two other branches of the retailer if they had it in stock. None does and the Klipsch Uk website doesn't list it too.

 

I would really like to get a replacement pair of X5's and am quite sad that it has been discontinued without an alternate model to fill in the price/performance point. I do love those X5's and would like a perfect pair back. I'm 6 months into a two year warranty and there's no replacement stock. Quite frustating. Any ideas on what can be done to get a replacement?

Try contacting Klipsch in US  directly.
