Budget Amp - Page 3

I'm also looking for a budget amp, but am willing to spend up to $100.

The CMOY looks interesting, but I wonder how it compares to a more professionally built one.

Any mass market suggestions change with the extra $50 spending power? Also a basshead here smily_headphones1.gif

What phones do you use? Do they need amping?

What kind of basshead? As in what level? Because I am a basshead, but some people here consider the ath-m50's to be very bassy cans. I can recommend the fiio e5 since they have a bass boost option, and so do the cmoy

I've got JH16's on order. Right now I do most of my listening on Grado 325's at home, but I'm looking for a good portable amp for use on the go.

Whoaaaa...!

Err. I don't think the JH16 needs an amp (careful EQ might achieve the bass you desire). But if you are set on buying one, I found this thread on amping the JH16: http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/482802/ask-best-portable-amps-for-jh-16-pro

Imho, you should at least wait till you have the JH16 and tried them out without an amp before deciding.

Yeah - I won't pull the trigger on an amp until I've heard the JH16s alone, but I want to explore options in case they are like the Grado's and need an amp. I've never been happy with the Grado's straight out of my iPhone, but they sound great through my Pioneer Elite receiver.
