I also guarantee that you won't regret attending either - a meet is about not only the gear but also the Head-Fiers and the info you can gain from talking to people will be a lot more valuable than trying to read posts by unknown faceless people typing over the Internet. I've been to 23 meets in my time on Head-Fi so far and have never once regretted attending any one of those meets, and most of them I traveled a significant distance to get to (most often by plane). I'm flying out to this meet because I know some of the area Head-Fiers but haven't seen them in 3 years now and would like to see them again. (I'm also going because I always love re-visiting NYC, it's the greatest city on the planet! But that's beside the point.) All I can say is that if you attend you'll have a lot to gain experientially. Do not let this opportunity pass you by because you think 3.5 hours is too far to drive - I think you'll find the whole meet experience to be more than worth it.

thanks for the insight.  i assume you have someone coming with you though, that's the thing.  i NEED someone to come with me.  even though im 26 now my mom will never allow me to go by myself and for good reasons.

im trying to get train tickets on amtrak from lancaster, pa to white plains.  what is the nearest station to white plains?  someone said grand central but i dont see that.

i found a greyhound bus that is leaving at 9am and returning at 6pm.  the bus leaves at 9am and i wouldnt get to the meet until like 3.  that leaves me like 3 hours til i return.  would this be good enough?  i wanted to take a train but of course there is no station in white plains and i have no idea how to get there.  the cost is about 150 for a round trip bus.  is that a decent price?

heck amtrak is only 100 dollars from lancaster, pa to stamford, ct.  how would i get from the stamford, ct station to the meet?  easiest way possible please.  ive tried metro before and got terribly lost.  of course i could ask, but id like a hassle free way if possible.  if someone can help me get from stamford, ct amtrak station to the meet, i will make it.

the easiest way is to drive. if by train, go to grand central and then take an express train to white plains.

yeah i figured the easiest way is to drive and since i have a gps i would probably just do that.  its a shame though.  i cant make it.  if anyone near lancaster, pa would like to come along i would love to go.  my mom said i was nuts for going to NY to try out headphones.  i was like there is people flying in to make it.

Yes, metro-north goes from grand central to white plains, IIRC.

The chances of me being able to drive are pretty slim, but it would save me loads of time indeed. Then again, a lot of things depend on my finals schedule for the week before the meet.

I agree with your mom, perhaps you should wait until you're in your 40's.

It's okay. I'm probably coming and I'm 18.

Are you bringing the Asgard, Yikes? My wallet might be in for a lot of hurt....

Thanks, I appreciate the both the lack of age bias and the Asgard's presence.

The bad thing might be if the Asgard is good enough with the HD600s that I feel the need to have them as well...

No, that is not what I was saying...Though you are by all means an adult. And yes, that is what all the rage is, which is why I want to hear it rather than take people's words for it.
