Look at old meets. Many still have pics up.

If you cant find the old NYC area meets look for meets from any other area and multiply awesomeness by a factor of 3. California meets have an awesomeness factor that must be multiplied by 1.75 to equal NY.

The multiplier for mini, national, and Florida meets is harder to calculate.

i live in the area so i have to go, especially since i have missed the last few.

train from grand central to white plains is 35 mins (express). the crowne plaza, which is a very nice hotel, is about 5 mins from the train station. taxis line the station and fare to the hotel would be around $5-7.

not sure what i will bring.

ah i seen some of the photos and it looks like a fun time.  i think ill have to pass on 2 reasons, 3 and a half hour drive, and i will want everything i test out there and then when i come home to see my slightly modded ad700's i will feel left out.

Valid reasons for sure, but just to play devil's advocate, if you did travel 3.5 hours you probably would not be traveling the farthest; and when it comes to gear envy you will certainly not be the only one.

There's actually a pretty decent chance I'll be able to make this one. (Depends on the times of my final exams and if I can go home friday night, since that saturday is actually the very beginning of my break) Chances are all I'll bring are my HF2s and ER6is, though, unless someone really feels the need to hear an E-mu for the 8 billionth time, since my starving student is currently incapacitated. I'll probably be taking the train, so who knows if I'll even bring the HF2s. I'll bring along my DSLR and take some pictures though, assuming I come. It's a 3 1/2 hour trip for me as well, with an hour to the station and a 2 1/2 hour ride.

Gear I would love to hear, if anyone owns it:

HD600/Asgard

HF2/Asgard

Beta 22

M^3

Woo 6

i know i wouldnt be the one traveleing the farthest, but after 2 hours to atlantic city from my house i can barely stand it.  its just so boring driving that much and then id have to drive 3.5 more hours home.  if a friend came i would definately make it.

I promise not to cancel if you promise to wear that pot on your head.

Count me in please Erik!  Thanks for setting this up.   I won't be able to stay too long but it'll be great to try out new gear.  I'll probably be brining a NorthStar M192 MKII DAC and either Auditor/HD650 or Stax SRM313/404 combo.

is there anyone who has the beyerdynamic dt990 32 ohm version?  if you send them to me, i will pay shipping both ways.  yeah im lazy but i would figure someone would let me test them out if i paid shipping both ways.  is this the wrong place to ask?

If you're even a little interested in hearing headphones, you owe it to yourself to attend this meet regardless of any other factors. Reading other people's impressions will only get you so far - you should actually listen to headphones for yourself to get a better idea of what people are writing about on Head-Fi, and something like a meet is THE best way to do that. I also guarantee that you won't regret attending either - a meet is about not only the gear but also the Head-Fiers and the info you can gain from talking to people will be a lot more valuable than trying to read posts by unknown faceless people typing over the Internet. I've been to 23 meets in my time on Head-Fi so far and have never once regretted attending any one of those meets, and most of them I traveled a significant distance to get to (most often by plane). I'm flying out to this meet because I know some of the area Head-Fiers but haven't seen them in 3 years now and would like to see them again. (I'm also going because I always love re-visiting NYC, it's the greatest city on the planet! But that's beside the point.) All I can say is that if you attend you'll have a lot to gain experientially. Do not let this opportunity pass you by because you think 3.5 hours is too far to drive - I think you'll find the whole meet experience to be more than worth it.
