Re-terminating K701's with XLR

Thread Starter

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking on these boards for a while but this is my first real post,

I'm just about to take the plunge and attempt balancing my 701's but some help from someone more knowledgeable would be massively appreciated as i'm still not 100% sure I have the layout of the wires and pins correct and i'm going mad trying to find the right info online.

As I understand it, the Yellow cable goes to pin 1 on the XLR plug. Black to pin 2. Red to pin 3. White to pin 4.

Is this accurate? Any help would be enormously appreciated.

Cheers, a noob in need

it looks to me like:

1 - yellow

2 - white

3 - red

4 - black

There is a guide around here somewhere that I used. However once you find it keep in mind that it wasn't accurate in my case (colours didnt indicate right wires). Both - were good but I had to change +. In any case just go ahead and try it. It is very hard to break your AKG by just reterminating.
