Has the fake ath-m50 arrived? - Page 10

I received a pair of Ath-m50's (COILED CABLE) from ebay for ~$95 (Including Shipping). I cannot retrace the exact seller of the product, but the headphones were NOT from China, but either from Hong Kong or California. These headphones were bought around August, but what puzzles me is the color of the box.

From these videos and images :

, the color of the box is BLUE with a flap covering half of the headphones.

The box in which I received my headphones are instead, TEAL, and did not have a flap covering the front of the box. It also did not have the top part of the box, the "Hanger-like"flap used to hang the product on shelves, etc..

I remember the product description on Ebay stating that the product has the 1 year Audio Technica Warranty. I received that in the box, the leather carrying bag, the adapter, and manuals / other printed documents.

The left side of the headphones, just around the swivel area, there is a small circular dot that sticks out just a little bit.

I'm personally really satisfied with the audio quality, headphone construction, cable durability, etc.. , but just the strange color of the box and random dot on only one side of the headphones that really puzzles me. I currently do not have a picture of the box, but I will update my post as soon as I find it.

Anyone else have similar issues with the Audio Technica ATH-M50 Headphones?

I just got my M50 for $101 CDN ($99 USD) last week from a US seller, and it's legit. The only thing was I stupidly agreed to UPS shipping, and that cost me $57 CDN of brokerage fees.

>: (  so mad at UPS. Never again.

Anyhow, the new M50 box is teal like the quote said, but it still has the "hanger" flap at the top.

Hey guys~

I'm planning to buy a pair of M50, and was just searching ebay and was wondering if anyone has bought from AudioTopia? They have a pair up for $101 (including shipping), so I might buy from them. I have also contacted brianf/proaudiomart to see when they will get a pair of the M50 in stock. Here are some links~

AudioTopia http://cgi.ebay.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M50-DJ-Studio-Headphones-ATHM50-NEW-/360312333966?pt=DJ_Gear_Lighting&hash=item53e449e68e#ht_4852wt_905

Really sketchy sale that I think is the same as the first post

If you have any other places that sell the M50 that you recommend, please let me know! Thank you~

Got mine at Amazon... If I remember correctly, they were $109 at the time. But that was quite a while ago. If you find them for around $110, just go with a good reputable dealer.

I've never had any dealings with AudioTopia. Sorry.

I see...but if I find the M50 for a lower price from another reputable dealer, shouldn't I go with those? xD

It seems that AudioTopia is an authorized dealer for Audio Technica (also checked Audio Technica's homepage), but just want to check with anyone of the forums to see if their customer service is good or not~

Oh, of course. I was just suggesting that if you were unsure about them... and that $110 or below is a good price. Wherever.

That is a very good price.

I got a pair of genuine ATH-M50s from unique squared inc.  Thanks to HF member andtobis to confirm that the seller was selling legit merchandise, it was enough to give me the green light for a confident purchase.  FWIW, I ordered for an overseas shipment and it took 10 days to arrive here in Okinawa from Atlanta; 1 more additional day in customs.  It was marked with a value of US$32.66 on the customs forms (so no issues with tax) and was sent USPS Global Priority Mail.

Might consider buying the HD25 1-II at that price, thanks for the heads-up.

Is it me or is Audio-Technica the #1 victim brand when it comes to black market reproduction?

It was through their website. Ended up being more like $150 including shipping to Australia (shipping prices were inflated!). Their service was pretty bad, but the price was easily the best I've seen -- and they eventually delivered. I could easily resell these locally for more than the original price plus shipping.
