I had a fake Jabra bluetooth headset off ebay. Confirmed fake by Jabra. The audio quality was almost indistinguishable from the authentic ones and included all the same features and presumably that means the same electronics. Also the box was indistinguishable apart from a tiny bit of a misalignment in the different inks used around the hologram (which was also done perfectly).

You can't trust anything except Authorised dealers really.

 

 

Yeah it's very hard to figure out which ones are fake these days. The quality, design, performance are very identical to the real ones. The only thing they don't have is warranty.

I don't really see how you could be constantly selling fakes advertised as real phones on ebay though.  When buyers file for "item not as described" through paypal the seller is usually pretty screwed.  They would have to be banking on no one being able to tell the difference between these and real ones.  The seller's feedback is also pretty good, I have to lol at his only negative feedback which is pretty funny.

One word.

China.

 

The whole economy and business model turns on the fact that labour is cheap. Over there it takes little investment to set up a paypal account and perform a lot of fake sales to build up some 'rep'. 

 

Ever seen sellers where every sale is listed as "private"?

Even so, paypal/credit card company (if you do a chargeback) pretty much just yanks the money from the seller and he either has to take the loss or set up a new paypal account.  That and you get bad feedback, private auction or not people can see the comments.  I'm just saying that people usually won't sacrifice a 1 year+ old account with over a thousand feedback to sell some fake headphones.  Ebay isn't dumb, and they have strict regulations - it's not that easy for people to grab your money and run.  Once you start selling you'll know what I mean.  In fact, on new paypal accounts, you can't even touch any money you receive for 21 days, paypal automatically puts a hold on it.  Doing something like setting up a new paypal account to scam some people every week is simply not going to work.

So... we are listening to fakes and then passing judgment on the real based on the SQ of the fakes?

 

Factory defect do happen, and they will somehow end up on the open market... but usually, they may have 2/3/4 things out of 10 items that QA would check and not like the fakes one we have here where every noticeable items are wrong...

 

Anyway... these fakes may sound sweet or awful, but to draw any parallel of its sound with a legit M50 and perhaps passing that info elsewhere where it may be perpetuated is just wrong and misleading.

I'm aware of this.

 

for me it's more a point of interest in finding and sampling an authentic pair. 

In any case the accuracy of the SQ in my mind is not determined by my own assumptions about how the SQ of the fakes compares to the real deal, but it's a tentative opinion based on the opinions of others who were in a position to hear BOTH.

I've had these phones in use for about 10 hours, so hopefully it gets better from here. 

 


 

humm interesting.  I'm not sure if you are hearing the same thing as the real one.  M50's are known to have recess mid's and not fatiguing.  I guess this is where everyone seems to hear things differently.

Without testing it I can say with near certainty that one is not quieter than the other. 

 

If you can, open it up and look for a bad connection.

I already open it. There are only two connections and all looks good. when one of the connection is not plugged then no sound comes out. I think mine is broken.

Dude, don't support fake sellers on ebay, a lot of fake headphones sound good and the buyer won't know the difference, or if they do know the differnce they send them back and get refunded and the ebay user gets a neutral or positive feedback for the transaction, a 98% feedback rating on ebay is not good.

Oh well it looks like proaudiomart is out of stock on the M50 now. That was a place you could get a legit copy for the same price as the counterfits. What a joke those counterfitters are.
