I am trying to rewire the Zalman microphone for my headphones.  It has a red wire that is coated in a thin plastic insulation and a regular copper wire.  I am pretty sure the copper wire is the ground so that part is easy.  But how do I get the signal to connect?  I am pretty sure I just use a regular Mono channel 2-pole 3.5mm plug for this right?  Anyways, I tried hooking it up how it should and it did not work.  I scraped most of the plastic off as I could and connected it and it didn't work.  It burnt a little of the wire because some of that plastic was still on, it is hard to scrape it off without ripping the wires out.  Can someone please help me with this?
