hdmi to usb or spdif to usb

is it possible to get either a hdmi to usb or spdif to usb cable or self powered convertor? im trying to use the line out options on the archos 5 dock to feed the usb of my ibasso d4 to use the onboard dacs. Thanks.

Nope.  HDMI has DRM.

dont you mean supports DRM? theres nothing stopping a non-protected signal is there?

USB and HDMI are meant for different roles and aren't really compatible with each other. Additionally, HDMI is simply too fast for the USB spec. It maxes out at over 10Gbit, whereas USB 2.0 tops out at 480Mbit. Even USB 3.0 is still half the speed of HDMI. You can go from USB to S/Pdif with any of the available converters, but you can't go in the other direction as far as I know.

HDMI uses a copy-protection scheme called HDCP.  The best option is to use an Archos 5 USB cable.
