Good Tubes used in well designed tube equipment will last probably longer then you'll want to keep the same Amp/ or equipment that you've be using!..I've had many of my tubes in my amps/ power supplies/ pre-amps and phono pre-amps that have been fine and keep within each tubes specs for yrs. on end..For example,...You take a NOS RCA Red Base 5692 or better known as a 6SN7 they're good for 10,000 hrs....The problem with most amps and other tube equipment today IMO, are some of their build qualities.....Also many are built on circuit boards. IMO not the best design(but much cheaper to manufacture) give me point to point wired gear any day..JMO,again! Many amps on the market today have no way of biasing the tubes......which prolongs tube live......So there are many factors in prolonging the life of your tubes..............Yes, I'm lucky because I'm best friends with the areas Top Tube amp repair/builder in town and He just happens to be an audiophile, and when he has the time, I've begged and paid him for his time/prts,and tubes to build all of my equip. for me..........I've seen plenty of repair jobs on tube equipment while helping Chris, that have really been just abused Amps, or someone sticking in a tube where it doesn't belong...So after my ranting,........ One should get a good designed Tube amp, and find out what a good tube to use in the right position and just enjoy your gear...Watch this tube rolling, crap also,.....Just because the tube socket has 9pin slots doesn't mean every 9pin tube will work........Remember This is JMO, after 20+ yrs of enjoying Tube Gear.......PS Don't pay that Stupid FU Money that so many sellers are asking for.....Hit the Ham Fest etc.etc. sniff out those high $$$tubes.....![]()
