ATH-A900 Vs. ATH-M50

I would like to get a nice pair of headphones for my father. He works from home, and his office is in his bedroom so closed is a necessity! I have spent HOURS of researching and am down to the M50 ($100) Vs. A900 ($135 Used). He mostly listens to audio books, lots of movies and some music (normally the type for meditation). He is always wearing his current crappy headphones, so comfort is important as well. Cans will have to be unamped for now. I will get him a nice receiver/amp/DAC in a year or so once I have more finances.

I'm pretty confused. I read a few saying A900 is a bit better overall, while another guy who said the M50 beats the A900 hands down... but I have a feeling he did not break in the A900's much which make a huge difference.

Appreciate any feedback! I need to order them soon.

A900 will be more comfy and have a larger soundstage for movies.

I ended up ordering the A900's after more research.

Thanks Jay!
